We have successfully answered every question correctly so if it's not about covid or movies, you just have to do a search or ask to be directed to the correct thread.
It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.

This is probably true. Plus a move to social media.

But with social media becoming increasingly restrictive on pro 2a things, could this drive people back to forums?

I always see people on the Reddit firearms community asking questions, and I tell them to come here to learn. There's a huge amount of people there, and a lot of bad information too.

I just think forums are looked at like an early 2000's thing, and the younger newer crowd is turned off by it.

Also, a lot of the "switched on" folks are taking steps to lower their social media and online footprints, between Waffen-FBI, Totenkopf-ATF, sundry other alphabet-soup Sturmtruppen and their allies in Big Tech.

It’s also a quality vs. quantity thing…I feel like we get fewer but higher quality discussions here and it’s more likely if it’s not something brand new it’s been discussed in detail. Compared to another similarly minded site that’s got a few occasionally useful topics but is mostly trash posts interspersed with photo threads.

In my professional industry it seems the big free forums have turned into echo chambers about politics or trash talking companies but a paid forum I’m on is booming with good information…sometimes you just gotta filter out the static and the people who bring it.

You have to arrive at that point in your life when you are willing to accept information that might be contrary to your existing beliefs. Some people are there in their 20s, some their 30s and some never get there. Most people aren't looking for best information so much as they are seeking validation of the choices they already made or reinforcement of what they already believe.

I knew a lot of stuff but even my first couple years here forced me to reevaluate some long held beliefs because I was presented with or confronted by new / different information based upon real world experience. For several years I remained a disciple of iron sights and saw red dots in more or less the same light as laser dot sights and considered them a crutch that trained people to not know how to shoot.

I really did have to start doing apple to apple comparisons where I ran the exact same rifle through the exact same drills but one was irons and the other set up with RDS and now most of my primary rifles have an RDS setup but with BUIS. I'm sure I would have gotten there eventually, but I know I got there faster because of people on this forum vs. every other forum on the net.

Picked up a lot of other good info that changed or at least influenced how and why I do things. It's kind of like running drills and you see somebody with what is obviously a superior sling setup, it doesn't take long to realize you are gonna change over because theirs is better. First time I saw a Vicker's sling I didn't need to be told anything...it was just better than anything I had ever seen or used.

^This has done more to drive away quality contributors and engaged seekers.

Social credit scores or whatever big tech wants to call it is here. LE/mil, teachers, gov, employees etc can be fired simply for posting pictures and opinions that aren't in line with the narrative. This is going to become more intrusive.

Most of the car forums I would frequent are dead. Like others have mentioned, plenty of reasons for it.

It is hard to get excited about guns, accessories, and shooting when ammunition and components bounce from unobtainable to overpriced.

I even went so far as to buy arrows and a target.

Offtopic: That reminds me, I need to poke over to the thirdgen Camaro/Firebird and Crown Vic forums I used to frequent and see if they're still around...
