    Why couldn't they just have them refurbed on a 100 lot at a time basis or something like that? Every thing I've ever had Trijicon work on was 110% when I got it back from them....That would cost probably $150/unit at "govt' cost".....but no, shred and buy new.

    Probably has something to do with tax revenues or the jobs (and thus taxable income, meaning revenues again) created by requiring all new components.

    I can see Triji shredding the "beyond use" parts to prevent them from leaking out into counterfeiters' hands, but they should at least be allowed to refurb or remanufacture. I did notice IIRC that ACOG's and most other gun parts have a demil code "D" (destroy beyond possibility of reassembly) in their NSN data...
