Kind of sucks that the ammo shot up to .40 cpr because of the "sanctions"

    Nitride barrel = hard pass.

Now if we could just get American companies to produce cheap 7.62x39 ammo we'd be in like flint!

Yes, 7.62x39 or 5.45x39 should definitely be hard chromed. Still, it's nice to see American companies putting out good quality AK's.

Why don't American companies chrome line their AK barrels? Does it add that much cost to do it. Of course they don't all chrome line their AR barrels either.

From what I’m understanding it’s a rebranded PSA

Big fan of the older DPMS stuff, back before they got bought out. Here lately / newer stuff, not so much.

Used to be (back in the day) that chrome lining was an available option on most of their barrels if you were willing to pay the extra for it. They did not do that sort of stuff 'in-house' and sent those barrels out to be done. Same with Cryo treating a barrel. They didn't have that sort of machinery or experience 'in house' but if you wanted it done they knew exactly who to send it to and it would be done right. All you had to do was ask for it and be willing to pay the extra...

Back in the beginning they sold a LOT of stuff they did not have anything to do with making / manufacturing or even assembling, but they sold good quality stuff.

“The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles."

My issues is AKs at that price range are rarely built correctly. They are Not head spaced right, they have poor quality parts, they have improper ware patterns due to poor assembly and poorly harden parts. The AK operator union has detailed testing of most cheapo aks and he has saved me a ton on bad Aks. I would never buy anything DPMS, Century arms, Riley ect, PSA Sadly a good AK cost money. Only four US companies I would ever buy from, others are quality imports only. Kreb customs, Arsenal, KALASHNIKOV USA, Rifle Dynamics. Americans suck at building aks right and cheap companies do even worst importing them. Sad a third world hell hole makes better quality AKs.
