I need some ideas

I have two lowers built and ready to accept a couple new uppers. Looking for ideas on what I should put on them. Both with a VLTOR A5 setup if that matters.

I currently own:

10.3” 556 SBR
10.3” 556 Pistol
12” 458 Socom pistol
14.5” 556 Rifle
3 - 16” 556 Rifles (2 MR556 piston)
16” 450 BM

I reload for every caliber I own, so there is extra expense ( Bullets - Powder - Brass - Dies) and complexity if I add yet another caliber, which I am kind of against, but wouldn’t completely rule out.

300 BLK doesn’t interest me much, but I may be wrong about it.

What would you buy to top off these two new lowers?

I’m struggling to come up with ideas. Any and all input is appreciated.

My 12.5" 6.8 SPC is pretty great. I built an 11" 7.62x39 that is fun and cheap to shoot.

I was going to say 6x45

.223 necked up to .243. It's a weird cartridge, but I remember reading on the weaponsman blog (RIP) that it was a contender in the SAW program.

Seems like you have 5.56 covered already. If you just like to build…. A 20” HBAR plus DIAS. Or, a high quality 20” pencil-ish barrel with extra care in assembly to use as a (to quote sinister when I build the same in 308) a “shoot n scoot” rifle.

Beyond that, it seems like the answers immediately trend against your preference to not add a caliber. However, I think this make sense once you consider you kind of have every base covered already. Since you asked opinions…. If I couldn’t resist another rifle just to have fun and to have another rifle, it would be 300BLK and 6ARC.

Thanks for all the responses thus far, I’m leaning toward an 18 / 20 556 and the 6ish cartridge.

I’m illiterate as to the difference between 6 ARC - 6 .8 SPC - 6.5 Grendel and why I would choose one over the other……..

Plus 1 for a 7.62 x 39 build. Don't cheap out on the barrel or BCG and you will have a really nice shooter. My 16 inch 7.62 build is fast becoming my favorite gun to shoot. I saw someone had Faxxon 11.5 inch 7.62 barrels on sale for 155 or so recently. I used the DEZ arms barrel and love it but they don't do shorter than 16 inch.

Failing that my next choice would be a 6.5 Grendel build.
