There was also some stuff about them being dicks to a guy in a lawsuit I think.

At the end of the day though, G barrels are 100% unproven compared to DD. There are reports of individual guns being good but I’ve now heard of more than one agency having many problems. Even if not, they’re the newest kid on the block as far as major barrel manufacturers go. I’m not saying they’re bad, but DD is a very known element.

My only real gripe with DD barrels is the profiles, I really wish they’d get into tapered profiles in far more offerings. Regardless of profile though, my MK18 shoots incredibly well and while it is paired with an LMT enhanced BCG so I don’t know how much that plays a role, it’s a great shooter.

I would take a real Colt Mk18 upper every day of the week and twice on Sunday. Or a Commando. Basically the same thing.

If you're on a budget, hunt down a TDP marked M4 upper (not hard to find) and have ADCO chop the barrel and open up the port. That's literally what the CQBR upper was (AKA Navy Mk18 made by Crane in house).

Most important aspect is gas system. Both are equal in terms of length/port size.
The Geissele bolt carrier groups are grouper and SHOULD prove to last longer. Their ambi safeties are def the “snappiest”/most responsive, trigger is lighter and much crisper. You’ll also get the ambi charging handle and really nice muzzle device.

Othen the preference on rail type, I see no reason to go with the DD.

So what exactly happened on Black Friday and what about this law suit?

Pretty sure I’d be a dick in response to a lawsuit as well.

Why go through the trouble of sending an upper off for work vs just buying the DD?

Same reasons why SOCOM goes to Colt for bolts and barrels instead of DD.

The URG-I upper as supplied to USASOC uses Daniel Defense barrels, though. And exactly what reason does SOCOM go to Colt for other parts?

Also, it's my understanding that the Block II CQBR URGs utilized FN barrels.

Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.

    Yeah they definitely don’t so…

Also, more often than not, that’s a good reason to go the opposite route. Even though socom is better than big army.
