It was called the Audley Safety holster or at least from the pictures it maybe a copy or similar idea from a different company. Because all the pictures of the Audley Safety holster I've seen don't quite look like the Philly PD holsters I remember.
They looked a little different than this. Like a typical 70s swivel holster with loops for extra bullets but with that release feature inside the trigger guard

Back when we were issued the Smith 686 4", we carried Safariland 070 SS3 level three security holsters. They were very secure and surprisingly fast with practice.
My dad carried a 4" Colt Trooper MkIII in a Safariland Breakfront with thumb strap for several years, not sure which model it was.
Reads a lot, posts little.
