I've adopted retired golf balls for this purpose.
OMG so simple yet I feel dumber by not already knowing that.
We started goose necking poncho hoods like that back in the 80's when we used to use them for shelter. Sometimes it was raining so flippin hard if you didn't add an additional little peak you would get flooded. Sometimes the single piece of horizontal 550 wouldn't cut it.

Learned that in 6th grade from a teacher that was super outdoorsy. Good reminder, and not sure my boys know that trick but they will now!
