    55gr velocity 16"

    Hello,
    I don't have a chrono to measure it myself. I was wondering if some of you also have a 16" AR15 and shoot 55gr and would be willing to share your chrono data so that I may try and use it for myself. If oyu hav 62gr chrono data you want to share, please do.
    55gr: M193/XM193 not sure which I got. Some federal, some winchester
    62gr: M855 same as above

    Here's my notes from one day I had access to a chronograph. Note that the M855 is faster than the wolf.

    Barrel is a BRT MPR 16"

    I measured others but no 16". What are you going to do with the other shooters' data?

    I've chrono'd a lot of factory ammo. Everything below is a 10 shot average from a 16” barrel AR. These are with different guns on different days as noted.

    Everything with the same gun # was shot with the same gun, even if shot on different days. Consecutively numbered days were not consecutive (back-to-back) days.

    * Gun #1, Day #1:

    Federal 55 gr FMJ 5.56 (“XM193”)
    3086 fps

    PMC “Bronze” 55 gr FMJ .223 (not 5.56)
    2792 fps

    Prvi Partizan 55 gr FMJ 5.56 (“M193”)
    3081 fps

    * Gun #1, Day #2:

    Federal 55 gr FMJ 5.56 (“XM193”)
    3140 fps

    Federal 55 gr FMJ .223 (not 5.56)
    2793 fps

    * Gun #2, Day #3:

    Federal 55 gr FMJ 5.56 (“XM193”)
    3062 fps

    PMC “Bronze” 55 gr FMJ .223 (not 5.56)
    2622 fps

    Wolf “Gold” .223 (brass case) older lot that many people say is faster than current lots
    3030 fps

    * Gun #3, Day #3:

    Federal 55 gr FMJ 5.56 (“XM193”)
    3105 fps

    I hope this is helpful.

    Don't kill yourself worrying about hold with the ACOG shooting 193 or 855. You are pissing up a rope. Use a 50-250 zero and consider it good if you can hit a full size IPSC target out to 300.

    Besides, if you get out there and learn your OWN dope, known velocity is kind of irrelevant.
