I think they did away with sending off to local law enforcement. At least that is what my guy said the other day when buying some cans. Maybe different with form 1’s.

I guess I'm a little confused. So is SBR'ing a lower a Form 1 or a Form 4? I thought it was a Form 1. If so, if there is a requirement to notify, how do I do so?
You send copy of the form 1 to the CLEO.
I know you’ve had multiple responses, but yes Form 1 is the way to go. If you have a flared mag well the inside of the flare works. Also i have heard of people using the serial number of the gun to fill out the form 1 so there is no engraving needed.
Also dont for get with a SBR travel is a bitch and a half
I too am finally interested. I want a couple of cans and want to do this legally without waiting months. I am hearing about this e-form that is coming on line.
How do I buy a can and e-form it? Is this done through a LGS, or do you buy online directly from a manufacturer and do the e-form?
Also, for traveling... If you SBR a gun, can you simply throw a 16" + barrel on it and be GTG or is it once an SBR always an SBR? I want to join the club here if e-form is what I am hearing.

So the E-form is releasing this month but realize you’ll be waiting months regardless. The “hope” is i think in a years time they want them to be a 60 day turn around time, but its government so it’ll be longer I’m sure lol. What i tell everyone is if you want to buy cans, look for a local shop that has a range and will let you have conjugal visits when its in jail lol.
So with the SBR rule, last time I actually sat down and really read it, the ATF stated a rifle length upper can be placed on a SBR’ed lower for a short term purpose but is not aloud to be on it for any length of time. I pretty much understood it as you can test your buddies upper but then have to remove it. The only reason I wont sbr PCC’s or any AR I own is the travel restrictions. Between visiting family in neighboring states and traveling to training classes, i dont want to fill out a handful of forms for the ATF to approve each year.
