2810 is really moving for a 140g bullet.

That’s what I was thinking also.

Really? I settled on 2750 out of a 24" barrel and I don't consider my load to be a max. I wouldn't think that 2800 out of, say, a 26" to be excessive.

Max charge weight of RL16 pushes a Barnes 140g Matchburner bullet 2703 fps out of my Ruger Precision Rifle. The published velocity for factory Hornady 140g ELD Match is 2710 fps and yesterday it chronographed at 2717 out of my rifle.

I think anything around 2800 fps is really moving. As long as you are not seeing signs of overpressure and your load is
accurate at 1000 yards, I'll have to try to push my loads a little faster.

Lots of variables here. Barrel length, type of barrel, bore dimensions, chamber dimension, throat, etc. Even changing brass can change attainable velocity drastically. Chronographs even have some degree of error. I’ve seen some off by 75 fps compared side by side!

I’ve had barrels clock 100 fps faster than the manual, I’ve also had them clock 250 fps under. Good custom barrels tend to be faster as a rule of thumb, but sometimes there are outliers. I had a Tikka 6.5 that wouldn’t break 2550 without stressing brass.

My .260 Rem would run 2920 fps with 140s, which is 6.5-284 territory. I shot a few matches with it and nobody believed me until they were seeing what I dialed for dope on the line.

When I see a claim about chronograph velocity, I tend not to disbelieve it because I have seen the statistical outliers and realize so many variables may stack up just right that 100 fps isn’t outside the realm of possibility.

I shot the RPR again today. It was 36 degrees and I had to compensate for 14 mph full value wind @ 090 degrees relative.

10 rounds of Hornady 140g ELD Match grouped 1" at 300 yards.

    10 rounds of 140g Barnes Match Burner + 41.5g RL16 + Fed 210M Match primer at 2.810" C.O.L. grouped 1-7/8" at 300 yards.

I have limited experience with the 6.5 Creedmoor. I've seen 175g Match .308 Winchester loads shoot 1.33 MOA at 300 yards that shot really well at 1,000 yards. I think I'll have to shoot both 6.5 Creedmoor loads at 1,000 yards before coming to a final conclusion.

Going to finally load up the Lapua brass over the holiday. I'm thinking of trying 5 or 10 rounds with the BR-4 primers since it would be a true control group this pass at this soul sucking cartridge.

    Add:

Good grief this brass is nice. Smooth and consistent neck tension.

Had some good luck yesterday with the Lapua. Loaded 50 with 140 Hornady and 50 with the 150 gr Sierras.

Best 3 shot test group was actually with the BR-4 primers and 140 Hornady. AR match primers shot 1/2 MOAish too, but the BRs did best.
