With these numbers, that means that an AR with an 11.5” barrel and RC2 has an overall (barrel) length of 15.3” and an AR with a 14.5” barrel and MINI2 suppressor has an overall (barrel) length of 17”.
Is that 1.7” really worth going the NFA/SBR route vs. a pinned & welded 14.5” with the shorter (MINI2) can? And if not, why do more people not just go that route, other than the ‘hassle’ of pinning and welding a muzzle device?
I’ve always been curious about this…
So the first thing to consider is that the SF Mini does almost nothing in terms of meaningful suppression. It is better than just a flash hider but that isn't saying much.
Even the RC2 on an 11.5" leaves a LOT to be desired. There are other brands that achieve greater levels of suppression but they aren't as rugged as SF cans.
The real combo would be the RC2 on a 14.5" barrel rifle. But people do whatever they feel and I've seen SF Minis on 10.5 and 11.5 SBRs. Better than nothing I guess. But you are gonna spend a lot for minimal results.
And if you aren't shooting subsonic, forget about it.
