    Reformed keys risk the possibility to split later if exposed to hard use.

    This a dirt cheap part designed to be replacable, replace it.

    Cheap part
    Easy install
    Will need sealant and a torque wrench
    Will need to stake the screws

    I would be concerned about the key splitting or stressing the screws when trying to get the crease out.

    Replace the key and be done with it. Tell him to not drop shit

    You brace the key against the edge of a work bench so it doesn't put any strain on the fasteners.
