    Firearms bolt question

The below link is from Schmid Tool's website. Are the pictured bolts for a rifle or shotgun? I had thought that bolts had to be machined from forgings, but apparently investment cast works as well.

Their write up says “bolt body”, so I’m guessing it’s basically the bolt carrier. As far as cast carriers being used in firearms, I don’t know. I imagine the carrier isn’t subjected to as much pressure as the bolt itself. I think ar15 carriers are machined.

As short as the bolt body appears to be, it could be for a semi-automatic shotgun.

definitely semi auto SG carriers. I'll go on to guess Benelli or Beretta
