    Korth Target .357

Like many European gun enthusiasts, I have been dreaming of a Korth revolver for a long time. So I finally pulled the trigger and bought this NIB 1986 Ratzeburg made Korth Target .357 Magnum 6 inch.

    Quick detach cylinder

    And it’s no longer new

Had some vertical stringing before producing a nice group at 25 meters offhand. The trigger action is incredibly smooth, both in SA and DA mode.

The crazy part is that I saw this gun with another half dozen Korth at my old LGS 25 years ago. They remained unsold due to their high prices, and the LGS often joked that they were part of his retirement plan.

Sadly he passed away prematurely in 2017. Another LGS I became close to bought his entire stock, and had those Korth on display.

He lowered the prices and they started moving. So I felt it was a once in a lifetime opportunity to acquire an old school NIB Korth. I had to take the jump, and when I shot it I had a thought for the deceased LGS who was a friendly person.

Another beautiful piece. Thank you for sharing it with us.

On a separate note, I'm slightly envious of your firearm budget.

I view those as an investment and a hobby. With age and wisdom, I am leaning towards interesting pieces which will probably retain their value (and then some) in the years to come.

Never even heard of one before.

What does the lever near the hammer do?

Not sure if I think the QD cylinder is a positive or negative feature.

    Certainly is interesting in concept.

It is the cylinder release. Pretty similar to S&W except the push forward button is on the right outside the frame rather than on the left attached to the frame

The QD cylinder is a very positive feature. Tolerances are tight, there’s no play and the cylinder is removed by the push of a button, rather than a screw (which sometimes gets buggered up)

So I have to give it to the Germans for daring to be different...again.

But seems like that is a terrible location for a cylinder release. Perhaps they simply consider this a target revolver and not a combat handgun, and that in itself is it's own special discussion. The manual of arms for that design would probably stroke me out under pressure.

That said, beautiful handgun. Has lines that I think only Euro's can accomplish.

Nighthawk Custom sells Korth revolvers. Looks like a nice revolver but too rich for my blood.
