    Thread Adapters

I'd like to run my Omega 300 on my new DD MK18. I've got a 5/8x24 quick detach flash hider for the Omega and was thinking about installing a shoulderless 1/2x28 thread adapter within the flash hider with some high temp Rock Set. I know concentricity is key....does anyone have reputable source for high quality adapters? I'm probably going to leave the flash hider on the rifle indefinitely.....so is there a better install method I should consider? I appreciate any thoughts.

Precision Armament. I cannot measure concentricity but the one I have (shouldered) has good threads at least.

It's probably best to pick up a 1/2-28 ASR mount.

If using an adapter, checking alignment with a rod before shooting is highly recommended.

I'm with Clint. Why stack tolerances when the appropriate piece is available?

Just lack of experience in this area. I was somehow thinking the 1/2x28 ASR wouldn't function with the .30 cal can. That is a far easier and safer solution. Thanks for the info.

Gotcha. Yes, all the ASR mounts are externally the same. Even the big bores. Some may see it as a weak point, as it WILL let you blow up your can if you do stupid stuff. I see it as a good thing in terms of interchange. The big bore ASR is available in M18x1 for my Tikka .308, where the .30 cal is not.

Yes, MOST suppressor mount systems are compatible across 5.56/7.62 & 1/2-28 and 5/8-24.

    There are two exceptions.

Sig 7.62 and 5.56 mounts are NOT compatible at all.

Surefire and YHM are sub caliber compatible, meaning you can put a 7.62 suppressor on a 5.56 mount, but not vice versa.
