    Norinco 56-1S (AK 47)

I’ve debated with myself for years whether I should get an AK. I’m not particularly attracted by the platform as I am more of an AR-15 enthusiast. But I guess every half decent gun collection should have a least one. So I finally took the plunge on a cheap but well made Chinese Norinco 56-1S for $ 650.-. I already had a very good experience with my NDM-86 (Dragunov). Came with three mags, sling, mag pouch oiler and cleaning kit.

Took it straight to the 50 m indoor range. It’s more accurate than I thought

I had some ammo from an old lot purchase, Russian and Czech

    With the big brother

    Quite happy with this purchase

Congrats! Always loved these guns and while the folding stock is less ergonomic, if is way cool!

I also think deals like this only happen on forums.

I will shamelessly admit that I like the look of the folding stock while recognising it’s an inferior contraption when it comes to shooting.

I went the same route when I chose my HK MP5 A3

And this deal is in Switzerland, where I live. Different market and different prices (and no ban on Chinese guns; or full auto ones for that matter).

Well $650 is about 1/3 of the value of one of those today so I would say you did pretty good.

Thanks for the post and pics. You still live in a free country. Helps when citizens have to keep legit battle rifles in their homes…

Damn, you stole that one. You don't want to know what they sell for in the states.

Find yourself a red bakelite side folder (both Norinco and Polytech made them), that one will become your shooter and you will have an underfolder just to satisfy the reference collection.

And with regard to that MP5, if you don't also own an A2 stock you should have your head examined. It's literally one pin and 30 seconds. I have both stocks (A2 and A3 or A3 and A4 in the case of G3s) for most of the HK rifles I own.

I bought an A2 stock. Didn’t take any pics of it though

Gotcha. Best of both worlds. The only time I prefer an A3 is on a MP5SD variant simply so it isn't quite so front end heavy.
