Bakelite seems to be a specific kind of phenolic, so bakelite is phenolic but not all phenolic is bakelite.
It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.

    Chuck, we miss ya man.

I would absolutely love to get my hands on one of those red Bakelite guns. Almost bucket list gun status, but not quite.

Or one of those all black bakelite Claycos....

The orange Bakelite is actually fiberglass correct?

Ran across TWO Bakelite folders in one morning this week. One was $2200 but was Bwest US made junk although it looked great. The other was the real deal, priced at $4000 and in junk shape. I would not pay more that $300 for it. The folding stock was trashed. In fact makes a mak90 with bone steel stock very attractive. The push button folder looks like it can go south with rough use.

I noticed that too with a US imported one years ago which was even more impressive considering how hard the stock was smacking me in the cheek.

Never did understand why the Chinese carried over and stuck with the stock drop from the milled guns instead of using the straight line from the stamped AKM/AKMS.
