I'm interested in learning more about early ar-15 rifles and wanted to know where to look for good reading material. The stickied resources with retroblackrifle.com has some good info, but not quite the best site to navigate. Thanks for your help.

Start with Vickers Guide Vol. 1. Just incredible.

Patriotism means to stand by the country. It does not mean to stand by the President... - Theodore Roosevelt, Lincoln and Free Speech, Metropolitan Magazine, Volume 47, Number 6, May 1918.
Every Communist must grasp the truth. Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun. Our principle is that the Party commands the gun, and the gun must never be allowed to command the Party Mao Zedong, 6 November, 1938 - speech to the Communist Patry of China's sixth Central Committee
The Blake Stevens / Collector Grade Publications books "Black Rifle I & II" are probably the gold standard of anything ever written about the AR-15 rifle, the Vickers Guide books are the first thing I've ever seen that is as good and maybe even better. The reference collection built for the books, combined with access to the collections of Reed Knight and other owners of super rares, is in itself astonishing. The detailed photographs and specific associated history are probably unprecedented.
Given that that second editions are now available for purchase, I can't think of a single reason to not start there first.
