10" barrel 300 blackout with 110gr gets 2250. 10 in wolvering get 90gr gold dot 2500 and speer tnt at 2600. Energy is close between the 2 I just wasn't impressed with a short barrel blackout on deer and hogs. I've got no complaints with the wolverine thus far.

2500 is smoking out of a 10"!!!! Holy crap
What is the penetration like with the 90gr though? The cartridge I had in mind was the 308 110gr Varmageddon and it basically exploded on impact but also traveled to about 12" or so. I have no doubt 90gr at 2500 would explode more but penetration..?
The more I'm reading the more 6.8 spc makes the most sense.
Out of the wolverine broke front shoulder and destroyed heart, bullet lodged in offside at 50 yards on 100lb doe

Unless you reload, ammo availability should also play a factor. Just changed an AR pistol from .223 to 300 BO since I have a bunch of 30 cal bullets sitting around and 223 brass. Also have some suppressors on order so there is that to consider. I have used grendel to hunt with and most of my kills were with hornady 123 gr amaxs but I have some 90 gr varmint nosler bullets to try. No grendel in short barrel but a 16" and 20". The 20 was a beast to lug around so built a 16" Alexander Arms LW barrel builders kit. Works good for a woods gun.
Long range is the niche of the 6.5 Grendel. There is a 6.5 Grendel load that is supposed to get 2500 fps with a 100 grain bullet from a 10.5" barrel, posted by Bill Alexander himself, but it uses an OTM bullet.
.300 BLK is weak by comparison to .300 HAM'R which is yielding 2300fps with 130gr and 135gr bullets from a 11.3" barrel.

300 HAM'R? Again, another I've never heard of. I'm amazed at all of the wild card cartridges that have come out.
Edit: Now I'd love to see how the 300 HAM'R compares to the 277 Wolverine! 30cal 110gr out of the blackout was around 2200-2300fps out of a 10" I believe so I'd be curious what the 300 HAM'R would take that same bullet to.
