Was thinking of going 6.5 Grendel for SBR but now I'm not sure...

So around 2017 all the rave was 6.5 Grendel in 12" or shorter barrels. More energy than 5.56 out of a 20" barrel. Supersonic out to 800 yards.

But then around 2020 all the talk stopped.

Now I read a recent thread that said 6.5 Grendel is obsolete now. Anyone know what is the deal with this?

Not obsolete by any means, but the 2 things I see that dented its popularity is no more cheap wolf steel case and the 6mm arc. I've had a 12" grendel and with 129 accubond lr loads it was a great little hunting package. 12.5 6.8 mid length is also a solid choice in that length depending on your use.

I just finished a 20” Grendel hunting build.

I didn’t think it was dead when I built it.

What did the 6mm arc do to it? I haven't looked into that round.

But I don't care much for long range. Just looking for a 10" or so barrel that has a little more "stopping power" than a little .223

Looks like 300blk super is still the answer for me maybe. Though the 6.5 Grendel in 10" did have me curious.

I've had the blackout, grendel, spc all in 10-12" barrels. Finally settled on the 277 wolverine. With 90gr gold dots its impressed me hunting this year.

Never even heard of the 277 Wolverine. I'm about to look into it.

I do like the idea of 30cal 110gr though.

Same concept as 300 blkout but uses 6.8mm bullets.
