Aside from that, once a month if not once every 2-3 and up to like 6 months sadly.

I usually turn it up to max or second highest setting when shooting but typically drop it down a tad when not so neither of those are at full brightness for most of the time.

    Ok
    Thank you for the information.

My only type 1 are RM01 auto adj.
I didn't learn that the manual adj works better until the type 2 were out.

I have a few type 2 RM06 but they switch to auto adj after a few hours so if I turn it up to shoot, it will drop back by itself once concealed.
They do have the option now to turn the unit off (at least the RM06 and RMRcc) those two models are my type 2 experience, so range guns could be shut off until the next trip, if desired.

I've not had an issue getting a year out of them but I believe the different models we have might be the reason.

    Thx again.

I replace them on January 1st.

I do all my RMR's because they are always on.

Between the ammo shortage/pricing and carpal tunnel surgery I did not shoot much in 2021 so I did not change the batteries in any of the other stuff because they did not get any use.

If you do something different, that is great. You do you and I will do me.

I just did the dirty deed and feel good about. I know I tossed some good batteries, but I throw money in a lot worse places. My HD weapons are GTG and now I know that, so for that piece of mind, Im good. It was a lot between flashlights and T1's...

This is me, got spares in my range bag and that is where they usually go dim on me. Also 123As don't corrode like AA and AAA batteries, they just stop working. Anything still running on AA or AAA I keep the batteries pulled so they don't corrode my electronics which is usually old NV stuff.

I'm on the once a year battery swap for optics.

One time I got 3-4 years off an aimpoint C3 before I decided to swap out for fresh batteries.

since then I figured I'd just reset the clock every year. The only RMR I have is the dual illuminated so no batteries needed, as for T2's and My other illuminated optics a $10 pack of CR2032's isn't that significant so I'd rather keep them plussed up.

As for WML's I've slowly switched to lights that can take CR123 and the rechargable 18650 (Streamlight SL-B26) so swapping those out monthly isn't a big deal and I keep a stock of CR123's as an emergency recharge if needed

    YMMV

    agreed

I do have some in the pack but I keep spares on my rifles so I always have them. No need to change them out until you see them start to dim and even then, perfectly serviceable for several hours still which gives ample time to replace accordingly. I also don't keep my lights constant on as I don't see the need for that. Everyone has a different view on things but for me, there is no need

Yep. I use a paint pin to write the date that I changed it on the optic. When I notice it's been a year I go ahead and change it out. Pretty good margin of error on Aimpoints if I forget.

    - Nearly all of the illuminated optics I own, now shut down when not in use
    - I have spares with the rifles and on the shelf, so I see no reason to change out a perfectly functional battery based on some arbitrary time frame
    - My HD guns are in the open where I can easily lay hands on them. They are verified working when the spirit moves me and I move them, at least those with illuminated optics
    - My RDS rifles all sport Iron sights in case the optic goes tits up
    - My scoped rifles, including illuminated, no longer sport backup iron sights

Optics on guns that are used in a defensive capacity are changed once a year. 2032s and those N1 batteries the Aimpoint Pro takes are cheap.

Leaving batteries in your range bag and changing them as needed is fine for range toys but it's not a practice I'd use for anything I might have to defend myself or family with. The old T1 on my daughters M&P 15-22 is going on 4 years on the same battery.
