What is the longest barrel rifle you own?
I'm also curious what you all think is the max length a barrel should be before it's weight/length outweigh it's benefits.
11.5"
14.5"
16"
18"
20"
Over 20"

My longest and shortest barrel is 16”.
Plain ol Colt 6920 barrel. Plenty good enough for anything I can do with an Aimpoint.
As this is in AR GD, I am assuming you mean AR rifles in 5.56 (?).
My longest AR atm is 16, but I'd like to add an 18 or 20. 20 just for good ole M16 feels, 18 for longer range/precision.
Longest rifle of all types? My Remington 40X. 24 inch barrel chambered in .22-250.
As to your second question, AR specific, I'd say 20 is the max you get any real benefit from in length. Even at that it probably ain't worth the squeeze over an 18. I only have interest in a 20 cause nostalgia (mostly).
ETA: And yeah, I am assuming "rifle" in the most general sense, not breaking down by "carbine, middy, rifle gas" etc.
I also forgot my 26" Eli Whitney in .43 Spanish. But that one is not about it being a shooter, it's just about having a cool old gun. But I have shot it, just cause.

Go Ukraine! Piss on the Russian dead.
1909 Brazilian 7x57 Mauser @ 28"
If AR, my SP1. 20 inch.
Cheers, Steve
Hava 22” 6.5 CM on an AR10 and a couple 18” on “precision” AR15s.
Most are 16” or 14.5” PW.
A true "Gun Guy" (or gal) should have familiarity and a modicum of proficiency with most all firearms platforms.
I own an 18" 6.5 Creedmoor thats gonna get a new barrel soon in the 16" flavor.
I think barrels only really get too long when you are talking about small frame AR15's. For example I really dont understand the dude that puts a 6-25x55 optic on an AR with a 24" heavy barrel and then he wants to talk to me about the magic of 224V or 6Arc. To me that gun has nothing over a large frame expect recoil impulse. Something I seem to manage just fine with a larger caliber.
The fun news is that my 16" and 18" CM will be almost the same length when done. My 18" had +2" of barrel and then a uarcomp with is a 2.5"+ MD. That means over all my 18" should be 5.5"+ over my bare 16" which will get a 6" can. So over all I am only gaining like 1" of OAL to get a can.
Tactical Nylon Micro Brewery
Centerfire - LH Stag 6L 24” heavy SS, that loves 69 SMKs
Black Powdah - Custom 60” barreled, 75-caliber club butt fusil, custom barrel … still only weighs ~8-pounds
Given that 10-shots are a group and 5-shots may be a favorable trend ... know that just one good 3-shot group can make you an instant internet superstar!
In the .556 realm, I've got one with a 20" A1 profile FSB barrel screwed into a flat top upper. Naturally, it has a carry handle rear sight. It might be my longest 5.56 barrel, but with a Magpul fixed rifle stock, it only weighs 7 lbs 13 oz. I've had a large frame 308 with a 20" tube since 2008. It still has a DD Lite rail, that's hardly light. ha ha
My longest bolt gun barrels are 26". One's a 22-250 and the other's a 308 Win.
I used to have a 24 inch bull barreled 260 Remington DPMS LR308. I couldn't get it to match the groups I was getting from my medium-light profiled 308 Win, so I sold it.

Longest barrel is a 28" Encore barrel
Longest barrel on a semi-auto w/ detachable mag my M1a at 22"
Longest AR barrel is my SPR at 18"
ETA:
I assume the OP is referring to an AR so I voted 18".
