Milled AK SLR-95 Stock Options (I already cut the tang...)

Inspired by recent threads and looking for current options to my not so perfect situation. I have a milled Arsenal SLR-95 with the tang cut 20+ years ago and an ACE stock adapter installed...

Do I have any modern options? Happy to do any milling or fitting on the part to make it work.

I have a JMAC on a more recent AK74 and my old ACE and it's two small screws just looks wrong now...

    Thanks!

    Dennis.

I think your options are pretty limited with a milled receiver. I don't even know if you could install a 100 series trunnion for a modern side folder or not. Probably an expensive solution.

I'd say you are married to that Ace folder.

I have one that came with the abominably fugly thumb hole stock and converted it fairly easily to this version.

I’d take it to someone to have some welding done if you want a regular stock. Adding an upper and lower tang should be fairly simple.

I recently bought a TIG welder and am learning to weld. If it were my gun I’d certainly give it a shot.

They originally came with an upper tang only and I added a lower tang to accommodate this regular stock.

Thanks for the welding idea! What other modern stock mounts use a single or dual tang with a milled receiver?

The low profile ACE mount actually attaches pretty well to the receiver. I might try tapping some extra holes to make for a better stock connection.

    Maybe tap for larger screws?

    Thanks!

    Dennis.

If I remember correctly, the lower tang is riveted, but the bottom rear of the receiver has to be modified to allow for it due to the receiver not being exactly in military configuration.

You are correct, mine is drilled and bolted in place. I did it that way so it was less than permanent. Everything is hidden under the pistol grip so it is not visible until you disassemble.

OP, I’m not an AK guy so I can’t help with your other questions. This is my one and only AK other than my SKS which I consider partly an AK.

Not even close. Mikhail Kalashnikov designed the AK inspired by the StG 44 and M1 Garand, the SKS was designed Sergei Simonov who is considered one of the fathers of the modern assault rifle, his designs predates them all. The SKS was a stopgap for and made obsolete by the AK.
