It's well-advertised in NC so as no bad things happen like SF candidates getting shot by deputies. But it does seem that every little while there's an article in a national outlet and they make it seem like it's something new.

Because it's an election year and this country is flicking it's Bic over an open keg of gunpowder, so fear porn for the gullible as pointed out above....
Also, it's RT- maybe they haven't got the memo RS is a regular thing.

Wonder if I should keep an eye out for MRAPs gassing up at my local station....

For those interested, Dr. Daniel Whittingham (U. of Birmingham) and Dr. Stuart Mitchell (RMA Sandhurst) co-authored a book on this very topic which was published here in the US by Casemate. Excellent reviews from the editors of Vietnam magazine, among others.

Back in 84 I was trying to be a SF baby myself, and got to play guerrilla for a week. BDU top and blue jeans, and they gave me an Uzi to carry around.....Pretty cool.
