Best 8.3 inch .300 Blackout battle zero

So I bought an 8.3 inch barreled blackout and I love it and haven’t even shot it yet. I’m really impressed at the terminal performance these rounds are supposed to give even out of the shorter barrels. Gorilla Ammunition has in stock 110 grain projectile loads using Barnes TAC-TX bullets and I plan on scooping a few boxes of them. I think this will make an excellent PDW setup I am just seeing different things online as far as best battle zeros for .300 blackout out of the shorter barrels. I know it isn’t 5.56 and I didn’t plan or hope for it to shoot as flat as one either. But if I could squeeze a solid 200-250 yard battle zero with this 8.3 inch barrel and an 110 grain Barnes load that would be awesome. Does anyone have any suggestions on zero distance for an 8.3 inch with similar grain weight? I guess I’m going for maximum effective range of point and shoot.

    I use a 36 yd. Zero.
110 gr. Barnes Black Tip @ 2170 FPS gives me:

    + .70” @ 50
    +1.8” @ 100
    + .50” @ 150
    - 3.5” @ 200
    - 10.75” @ 250

This is doable with a RD for me.
    It’s a rock past that.

What barrel length are you using?

I'm running a suppressed 8" 300 BLK with Barnes VOR-TX 110gr black tip, and use a 36 yd zero. Keeps it pretty much within +/- 3" out to 200 yds.

Zeros largely depend on the gun's use/application. My 300BLK is my primary home defense gun, and I don't hunt with it, so i don't shoot past 25 yards with it very often. I have other guns for hunting or longer engagements. But dang the blackout is fun to shoot at pistol steel with subs.

Sounds good man I’m gonna try the 36 yard. I’ll take that zero all day.

To give you a ballpark for factory loads, out of my 8.5 inch barrel the factory 110 Barnes gets me 2105 fps.

Look also at the Maker 85gr loads. I never shot them through my 8.5 inch, but out of my 6 inch they yielded 2227 fps while the Barnes got 1968. I’d expect 2350-2375 or so for the 85s out of the 8.5 barrel which might flatten trajectory out until the 110’s higher B.C. evens it out.. https://makerbullets.com/products.php?cat=4&scri=5

And, especially if you’re gonna put a can on it, be sure to try out some subs. They are an absolute hoot.
