Can’t say I’m a fan of the name, it appears they’ve gone full Mossberg on that aspect.

I like bull pups, so it should be interesting if I can get past the name.

No kidding, right? Springfield could have kept the cringe to a minimum and just called it the VHS-2S or something, but no, Springfield’s gotta go all Springfield and saddle “their” neat new rifle with a dumb name. Makes me wonder what else they screwed up.

I guess the had to change it to avoid “Betamax” jokes but Hellion sounds like something an 11 year old would select.

Still<,I will get one once they float down to $1800. It’s too interesting a piece of military technology for me to pass on.

So, without watching the videos, is it a DI gun or piston?

I did read where it has a nitrided barrel though. You'd think for that much $$$ they'd at least make it with a chrome lined tube......but it is SA after all.

    Piston…

Neat, but I’m still looking to get rid of my Tavor. Not a bad gun, but just prefer a AR that much more.

Maybe get that Hi Power squared away, and then I’ll be interested.

I would rather spend the money on a custom built AR than this one, Way overpriced for what you're getting!

It really is pretty cool, I just wish Springfield wasn’t coming right out the gate with their stupid product naming conventions. If I had money to just blow on neat shit I’d absolutely get one, but as much as I’d like a diverse assortment of interesting and exotic weaponry, at this point in time I’ve become more focused on “standardizing” my collection, and trying not to get into any more weird platforms or any more niche calibers.

“Peacetime” gun collecting mindset vs “wartime” gun collecting mindset maybe?

Once the hype dies down price should be about the same as an Aug or X95.

    Pick your poison.

Agreed. Based on track records, I'd get the AUG. More parts and tools. A little difficult to suppress, but they can be done.

Springfield doesn't make this, except for a few compliance parts. They write their name on the side.

Here is an Iraqi war hero rocking one.
