I think all retired cops go through this phase. My buddy's Dad did for about two years, he's back to carrying a G19 now, but with a red dot now...

I think Jerry could school every single person on this forum with a 2 snubie.

He could school everyone with a single shot T/C in .45-70. He'd beat everyone on the reload alone, all while we're shooting bottom feeders.

Yeah, every time somebody starts with the boomer shit and "you must have Glock with speed trigger and RDS" I just think of Jerry doing a speed loader reload. And it's not just a sample of one, when was the last time anyone beat Tom Knapp with a shotgun? Tech is nice, but it won't make you a shooter.

Does anyone (besides Stoeger) really think they are gonna beat Hackathorn with his antiquated 1911 just because they have a Glock? Does anyone really think Vickers couldn't run a bone stock AR carbine and still school 75% of those who think they are high speed?

Not a damn thing wrong with anyone running optics, red dots or whatever, but real shooters can run anything. I remember Bob Munden shooting a goddamn red balloon at 100 yards with a .38 snubbie. That is a person so familiar with shooting firearms that they have moved beyond mental kentucky windage.

You accidentally get into a gun fight with some old timer like Jerry, you are truly f'ed. You will be dead before you even have your hand on your carry gun.

And in 30 years, when all of the guys currently going "ok boomer" are listening to the new generation of idiots talk about how their "current tech" is must have or you ain't shit, they will finally understand some of what we are trying to say. Because they will be watching people who have minimal shooting experience with an over reliance on tech.

I love what NV can do, I love what RDS can do, wouldn't dream of not having a weapon light. But you give all that shit to somebody who can also run standard sights at night effectively and THAT is your true force multiplier.

Colt and S&W with that beautiful bluing. Hard to beat, I still love 1911's and revolvers even though I carry plastic. I can appreciate the allure 100%.
