I installed the KNS gen II on my first build and am getting ready to build number two.
Wondering if the anti rotation system is really necessary.
What say you? Is it worth the 30 or so dollars?

Probably not, but they are good insurance. Some lowers are out of spec, and you can get enough movement that the Hammer Pin comes out and totally makes the weapon go TU. I had it happen to me, and i know that many of the experts use them like Grant and Denny Hansen.
I installed them on my second lower I built because my first lower, the trigger pin had a tendency to start walking out after just a few trigger pulls...
is this generally just a problem with builds?

Depends on the trigger you are using. A nice 2-stage/match trigger then yes. If you just have a standard single stage, then No...it's not needed.
Just make sure the trigger/hammer pins you use are mil-contract company.

Both of my builds were with DPMS kits...
If your trigger pin is walking then something else is wrong. Armalite, Bushmaster, most Colt, Noveske and LMT use pins that are .155 or .154 diameter, i.e. MILSPEC size. You need to contact DPMS and ask them what size they use.
The trigger pin is held in place by the legs of the hammer spring. So either the weapon is not assembled properly or the spring is jacked up. The hammer pin is held in place by a "J" spring which contained within the hammer itself.
KNS pins shouldn't be needed for a weapon that is properly assembled and within specs.

It wasnt full on completely removing itself from the lower, but there was a gap that would form...I dont know if it was the hammer and trigger actually sliding inside the receiver or the pins sliding a bit inside the trigger or hammer...it was on my Superior Arms lower (which also has a magwell that I've had trouble with PMags dropping free on occasion).
My Sabre Defense lower, I built it right off the bat with the KNS pins...
Sorry, I didn't quite understand your post here. Are you saying that it is difficult to remove the lower parts? Realistically it isn't that difficult if it is done correctly. I would personally procure a MILSPEC LPK and see if the problem persists which would help you determine if it is the lower or the parts.

Never attempted to remove them after they were installed...just what I assume was to be that there was play between the reciever and the FCG parts...
