I found a like new Series 70 that I couldn’t resist. A classic blued 1911 has been missing from my collection for awhile. The gun was bone dry when I bought it, so I gave it a thorough clean and lube before shooting.

I put 100 rounds of 230 grain hardball thru it today and was very impressed. No malfunctions with Colt or Kimber mags I had, and it was plenty accurate—6 inch plate at 15 yards was easy. I did notice the left grip panel got a little lose, I tightened it up and I’ll monitor it to see if I need to do more than that.

My initial impression is this is a great old school 1911. I’ve previously owned a Springfield Milspec, and the Colt is significantly more refined. Next range trip I’ll try some JHPs, I don’t really have much opportunity to carry a full size 1911 here in FL but it’s nice to know I could.
