I believe he was referring to the special offer that LAV made on a forum. Like I mentioned above it was to be built on Kimbers.

Met a guy at the 100 year anniversary class in OH that brought his 1911 that was built by Vickers. If I remember correctly…Vickers had installed frame rails on it as part of the build to tighten of the slide to frame fit.

It was sold for just under $5000, my guess was pretty close.

What is more interesting was Ken's Winchester model 94, built in 1962 and unfired was sold for $7500 ! I didn't know a 60 year old lever gun would bring that amount.

I'm surprised it didn't do better. I would guess Larry could get $5k a gun if he was building them today.

I think the series 80 scared off some people. But at that time it was very hard to find a series 70.

I regret not getting one of his guns when I had the chance, but then, that level of money for me then was in the stratosphere.

Oh no sir. There is no way I could imagine affording $5000 for a pistol, even if it is a rare item like that.

I'm almost afraid to think about what Ken's collection might be like. Christ I was reading articles by him when I was in middle school.

    Chuck, we miss ya man.
