I see you found the thread on the Stgw 57

There’s also the AMT, which is nicer and rarer imo.

Nice rifle! I'm searching for one of those 30 round mags. Seems I likely missed the boat on that!

If your primary interest is as a collectable then all well and good, but don't overpay if you are looking at it from a useable functional perspective.

From an ADF reprint and I would assume similar issues with Belgian pattern rifles and magazines.

Tapatalk photo transfer apparently decided to take a dump.

Summary is they stopped production of the 30rds L2 magazines because the added friction with 30 rounds had a tendency to cause malfunctions under certain conditions.

I had zero luck with both the 30rnd G3 mags & also the 30rnd FNFAL versions. Both had feeding issues in HK91 and Springfield Imbel FAL. The weight and balance with the gun was thrown off a bit too…

I have some factory HK 30 round mags that run perfect. Weren't the 30 round FAL mags conversions from Bren magazines?
It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.

    Chuck, we miss ya man.

There may have been some, but the 2 are quite different.

British WWII Bren .303 Thirty Round Box Magazine – International Military Antiques

    https://www.apexgunparts.com/l1a1-30rd-magazine.html

TAPCO had some generally Commonwealth pattern magazines that(iirc) were from Lebanon that had the front lug removed and the much smaller Belgian front beak formed in to the tube.

They were from the later 7.62N model Brens not the .303 versions from what I've been able to find. I think it was the L4 Bren.

Not sure about the origin of th3 FAL ones not even sure where or when I got them. The G3 ones were from a sketchy vendor at a gun show in the early 90’s so god knows where there from.oh well you live and learn!

Nice pics, thanks for posting. Virtually unobtanium for us so I'm envious.
