Yup...... in the year 2022, I hereby proclaim Colt as the top producer of best quality revolver. They've hit it out of the park with their D-Frames and they keep getting my money.

My King Cobra Target is everything my 66-2 is, but currently produced!

Solid barrel (none of that two piece sleeve malarkey), fantastic trigger, and NO LOCK!

I've had a Colt SF-VI since the mid '00s and have loved it between then and now. I'm glad that the Prancing Pony dusted off the cobwebs from that design and jumped backed into the DA Wheel Gun market.

Yeah, the Cobra is a name I wouldn't have used for a relaunch of a snub-nose D-Frame. But I understand why. You can read up on that here in my TTAG article.

A Tale of a Revolver's Decline and the Rebirth from the Prancing Pony - The Truth About Guns

Anyways...

When Colt relaunched the design, I snapped up a new .38 Special Cobra after I played with it at NRAAM and SHOT Show. And then at SHOT Show 2019, I fell in love with the 3" King Cobra at their industry day at the range.

Snagged one of those back in 2020.

Well, now I have a King Cobra Target and as God as my witness. It is a fantastic revolver and does everything I want the way I want it.

All in all, I'm mightily pleased with Colt's new line of D-Frames.

As for the new Pythons, I'll stick with my originals. But for medium frame .357 Magnums, the D-Frame is where it is at!

Now, I just need to add a snub-nose King Cobra Carry to the stable.
