I have a G2X in a thorntail on my ak74. Solid setup. But I agree the HLX with a tape switch is good to go (even better with a cloud defense LCS mount). I run one on a 11.5 sbr and its super bright for $$. No issues with durability but clearly the G2X is a tank.

I had an original G2 nitrolon. My issue with that light was that it would't support a hot module, like a 6p, or a L2, due to lack of heat sinking.
How does the G2x compare, other then It's not a p60 host anymore?

I am guessing that this model is the scout light equivalent with a permanent mount?

This one I can throw in any pic mount and regulate the length at the attachment point as needed?

The mount isn’t permanent. You can take the pic attachment off. Mines mounted to and Arisaka offset.

As Inkslinger suggested, the first one can have the built-in 1913 mount removed, and you can use any standard SureFire Scout pattern mount. I have mine on an Arisaka Offset Scout Mount Picatinny since I'm using it as an SAR/mountaineering helmet light. The second is the handheld version.

    Uh... they're the same.

Perhaps you could, you know, do a modicum of research on the HL-X on your own? Maybe just take a peek at the manufacturer's own website?

    Did that.

But when you buy they are listed as different models.

If I really wanted to mount it in a 1” ring mount then I assume I don’t want the “scout” mount model - which I assume has a permanent fixture for scout light?

Correct, it has the two legs that attach to the mount. Don't think it is quite as thin as the Scout but works the same way. Bolts to a secondary mounting system.

They're the same light. The only difference is whether your get two primary cells on the package or if you get an 18650 in the package. Which battery do you want?
