Decided to give the AR a lick and see what the fuss was about.

That was about four years ago.
Picked up a PSA kit and some mags and an Anderson lower from the LGS. I think I was into it for about $475.

Somewhere along the way the action was swapped out for an A5 and re-barreled with a Faxon mid gas, 16" 223 Wylde in the Gunner profile with a Radian BCG using a BCM extractor kit.
With a Law Folder it was running well on an A5H2 buffer.
Without it it was locking back with an A5H4 so I got a BRT Gas Drive sized to run an A5H2 with a Tubbs flat wire.
The only thing left from the PSA kit is the upper and handguard. Charging handle was swapped out for a Radian.

Went a few rounds with optics.
    Red Dot
    Red Dot and 4x magnifer.
    1-6x24 on various mounts.
Now has a PA 1-8x24 genII from my .308, on a Swampfox 1.6" mount. Has offset RMR footprint mounting but I don't use it. Yet.

While that was being monkeypooched I messed around doing the 9mm AR thing.
Ammo was $159 a case so whoo hoo.

Sorta lost interest with it and swapped the Aero lower and folder to the other.

Swapped out the CMC PCC trigger for a Centurion Arms AST.
BCM LPK was used with a Radian safety selector.

I noticed that I had a few left overs and didn't need much to put another upper together.
Handguard, mid gas barrel and upper.
Sold off the 9mm stuff and started looking.

Looked at the PSA 14.7" FN P&W upper for a bit and everything else that's available these days.
The PSA checked most of the boxes for me, medium profile, FN barrel and should have a .076" gas port.
Ordered one with a Toolcraft Nitride BCG. Installed the BCM ejector kit.

Checked the gas port alignment with a bore scope, it checks but the set screws are not dimpled.
I've gotten a few more tools and dimpling the barrel is easy enough but being the FH is P&W, that means it's Uncle Cletus time.
I just set them with some red Loctite for the time being.
Barrel nut's tight with moly lube.
Not sure who made the handguard, I see MWI tossed about and it is solid and dehorned, much better than the other one.
The upper has a nice finish and mates up to the handguard perfectly.
Used a BCM large latch CH, MBUIS and a Romeo5 XDR on an ADM mount to round it out.

I figured I'd use the Anderson lower until I could get another Aero.
I had a .308 carbine extension tube and green spring so I used those with an A5H2 buffer and Magpul stock.
Used the BCM PNT trigger I had.
The upper and lower fitment is the best I have seen, no slop, wiggle, rear take down pin is slightly tighter than the Aero adjusted one. So, I'll just leave that be for now.

As soon as they open the woods back up I can get out to do more than a function check
Got some 193, 855, Mk318 and some Winchester 69gn Match to run.

The .308 has a new scope and mount to zero as well.

I like the BCM grip and will be getting two more along with two more Radian selectors.
    Gah, it never ends.
Not so sure the R5 will stay, Been kinda looking at the SAI 1-6

The AR platform provides for an interesting journey.
A true "Gun Guy" (or gal) should have familiarity and a modicum of proficiency with most all firearms platforms.

    Got another brewing.
Parts are back ordered but what isn't these days.
    But paid and waiting.
Wilson 18" fluted 223 wylde and Wilson upper, threw in their 15" handguard as well.

Gotta keep cranking out the OT to get more parts.

That didn't take too long all things considered.
Sold off the PSA upper with Faxon barrel to a guy at work.

Wilson 18" fluted, rifle gas, finished in black Armor-Tuff, .223 wylde with an A2 flash hider.
Wilson gas block and tube with their 15" handguard.
Radian BCG and charging handle with some MBUS.
Arken 4-16x50 scope on a Midwest Industries 1.93" mount.

Aero lower, BCM LPK with a Centurion Arms AST trigger and Radian safety selector.
Vltor A5 action with an A5H2 buffer.

Comes in at 11.2 lbs with the scope, no mag.

That barrel looks pretty thick. I'm curious how it shoots?

    It's a bit thick.
No need to remove the flash hider to install the gas block.

All I've done so far is dry fire the snot out of it.
One of these weekends when I'm not working I can get out and see how it does.

What was your accuracy like with the Faxon barrel in your PSA and what ammo worked the best as far as accuracy goes?
