Mossberg is trying to give the Beretta 1301 a run for it's money.

I've got to admit the Mossberg safety location is the best of any shotgun I've handled. If I didn't already own an 870 and 1301, I'd seriously consider a different route with a 590A1 and this new 940. It sounds pretty good according to TFB.

Is this NEW Shotgun the Best Semiauto Under $1,000?

Of course, because I just finished getting my 1301 set up lol.
I have a 590a1 so this is intriguing for several reasons!
    Thanks for the video

Beretta > Mossberg by a very wide margin.

Why would you say this? Because Mossberg makes some lower end shotguns?

You have not handled the 940 yet. The cutout for a red dot is brilliant. I asked Steve Fisher about it (who is a man that knows shotguns) and he thinks it might be a hit and is waiting to test it out. Jerry Miculek thinks it's GTG. These are people that have forgotten more about shotguns than any of us know. Plus its made in the US!

I say it because it is true and quite widely known in shotgun circles.

It may indeed be a hit, for the budget conscious. Beretta makes higher quality, more reliable shotguns across the board. There is a reason when asking a shotgun person for a recommendation, they will usually tell you to stick to the "B-guns."

Self defense shotguns are a small niche of the overall shotgun market that Beretta dominates. They can get hunting shotguns right but can't do a self defense model?

Their line is far more extensive and they make guns that are far more expensive than Mossberg. No doubt they make nice guns.

Just to clarify, I am by no means extremely knowledgeable in self defense shotguns or run in those circles but I have been upland game hunting along with migratory since I was 10 in the Midwest and a berretta shotgun was a rarity. So by no means would I say Beretta dominates hunting shotguns or even sporting guns for skeet and trap.

Mossberg does not have the same QA/QC and materials quality as Beretta, no-matter what product line we are discussing. I don't care which spokes person endorses what.

I too have a 1301 but glad to see American Manufacturers stepping up.

    Iv'e also had a 590 A1 for 30 years and its a fantastic shotgun.
