    Ejector question

    Anyone know the purpose of circumferential groove at rear of the ejector? Ejector.jpg

    It's where the roll pin goes to hold the ejector in place.

    oops.. you mean the little groove. Good question. This should be worth 5 pages of replies.

    I believe it is there so the ejector can be held during the shot peening process.

    That groove is officially listed as an "identification groove" on the Supplementary Quality Assurance Provisions sheet.

    In Dec 1966 shot peening of the ejector was introduced to improve the fatigue life of the ejector. The groove was added to identify ejectors that had been shot peened.

    Thank you. That's something I did not know.

    That would certainly explain why a number of the ejectors I've seen do not have a groove.
