You can read the article on the link above. The SRO was armed and did engaged the nut job. During the exchange the nut job lost/dropped his bag of extra ammo. The SRO was wounded in the exchange.

I'm assuming he brought a pistol to a gun fight, and along with the usual dynamics of such a thing, surprise, training, luck. etc, was unable to stop the POS. This is the model that needs to be followed, and one school decided to talk less, and do what was really best for the kids:

Obviously other measures could and should be taken on various levels, but that's a real start to making schools hard targets vs magnets for nuts.

First of all, props to the SRO for engaging the bad guy. Even though he ultimately lost the fight, he probably saved a decent amount of lives in the process.

However, most SROs are picked for their ability to communicate with the kids and being able to investigate child abuse and molestation cases. The cop that has several tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and spends a good amount of his own money on ammunition, training, and equipment is probably not the guy that's going to be the SRO. Of the 10 or so SROs that come to my precinct for quarterly handgun training, probably 7-8 of them are the kind that fairly often require more than one try to pass annual qualification

That definitely saved some lives. Glad he was there.

So people need to wake up and realize this is about "crazy people on the loose." You can just medicate them and send them home. You can pass any law you want, they will find a way to kill people. You can put armed guards in your schools, crazy people will still get in and start shooting kids until they are engaged by armed guards and stopped by responding LE.

You can even arm and train teachers (not really their job or responsibility but if they want to they should be able to) and you still can't guarantee anything because we are talking about crazy people.

Probably a higher probability of success. But it's a shame it's come to this. Our parents didn't have to go to school in fortresses and guns were everywhere, even IN the school sometimes.

We need to ask, what has changed. And the answer is we used to weed violently unstable people out of the student pool rather than medicate them and send them back to class. I don't care how hard you arm up, eventually one of these "time bombs" is going to end up being a teacher and you will have a school teacher who ends up being the active shooter.

Was the school a target, or did he crash there and then go into the school because it was there?

The CBP seems to referred to a cross between LAV and Rob Leatham - and by what he did I don’t doubt it- but it seems that he as some acknowledge ninja before it happened?

Because With active-shooters with body armor in the last two public instances, that makes a trend. Still guess that 9mm is the go-to for 99% of self defense shoots, but I think school/facility defenders need to consider up-gunning.

Any word on his parents and/or family situation?
The school was a target, he literally posted he was going to shoot up the school on face book.

He was NOT wearing body armor.

And his dirtbag mom is shock her baby would do this.

I know that the reports of body armor are often confused with ammo carriers, but you'd think that the SRO would have been more effective then?
