I don't even see an issue with that. They didn't apologize and its not like they're calling for new gun control, they just said they'll cooperate with any investigations.

Indeed, and I stand by my original statements. We will find out more lies over the next month. Lies about how the shooter could afford the guns and ammo, lies about “there were no warnings” and lies about how the first engagement with the shooter occurred and the actual timeline of events.

I feel so bad for the kids and their families. We will find that this mass murder should have been prevented using existing resources and laws, not new gun laws to make Texas safer for cartels.

Right now I'm still at "If guys were actually trying to get in, I WISH they would have figured out a way." Maybe nobody even thought to try and blow the hinges with slugs, maybe it wouldn't have even worked. But I wish they would have found a way in.

And if it turns out that any of them held in place waiting on a tac unit when there was a way in, then I'm going to have a very FU opinion of those specific officers in question. Based upon past experience, I think we are weeks away from knowing the whole story and hard as it is to imagine...but based upon past experience...we better be prepared for it to be even worse than we thought.

Steven McCraw, the director of the Texas Department of Public Safety, said Friday that Peter Arredondo, the chief of police for the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District, had stopped at least 19 officers from breaking into the school as the gunman opened fire for at least an hour.

If they (UCISD and Uvalde city/county) don’t lay everything bare and step back with their hands behind their backs, then it wouldn’t shock me if the parents came after all of them with torches and pitch forks. And I wouldn’t blame them one tiny little bit. They deserve a few pounds of flesh and it looks like Arredondo has plenty to spare.

He’s just trying to avoid any press I think, doesn’t mean that he suddenly flipped anti-gun.

ETA - I do think that an interesting (though depressing) discussion would be a more forceful response from the parents. I don't know that I'd blame any parent from resorting to force if all of those updates are true. What a crazy situation to consider barricaded suspect inside a room with hostages (especially kids) that he's actively killing, cops outside and giving the perception they are not doing enough, and armed parents at the brink of opening up on the cops to get into the school to their kids. ****ing nightmare scenario.

It would be one thing for Marty Daniels to take on the press, it's quite another to subject your employees to it. Running those booths is not a one man show and I'd probably have done the same thing to protect my employees.

Seriously. I like this forum. I have never hit the “ignore” button on anyone, as silliness in GD doesn’t mean they don’t have valuable content elsewhere. But dang. The ”They are not pure enough!” and truly uncaring/illogical attitude gets to me worse than the crazy conspiracy threads that I just avoid.

No issues with Daniel Defense on this, but still not too thrilled with them from the Fix NICS incident and (from approximately the same time) making news for outfitting a PRK agency(rules for thee, but not for me) which was funded via civil asset forfeiture. About the only thing that could have been worse was if the agency got the funds via running a child prostitution ring.

11.31: Gunman is now in the parking lot of the school hiding in between vehicles, shooting at the building

11.32: School resource officer who arrives in a patrol car after hearing 911 call about truck crash drives past the shooter

11.33: Gunman enters the school and begins shooting into room 111/room 112. He shoots more than 100 rounds

11.35: Three police officers enter the same propped-open door as the suspect from the Uvalde PD. They were later followed by another four, making a total of seven officers on the scene Three initial officers went directly to the door and got grazing wounds from him while the door was closed. They hang back

11.37: Another 16 rounds fired inside the classroom by the gunman

11.51: Police sergeant and USB agents arrive

12.03: Officers continue to arrive in the hallway. As many as 19 officers in that hallway at that time At the same time, a girl from inside the classroom calls 911 and whispers that she is in room 112

12.10pm: The same girl calls back and advises 'there are multiple dead'

12.13pm: The same girl calls again

12.16pm: The same girl calls 911 for the fourth time in 13 minutes asking for help

12.15pm: BORTAC (SWAT) members arrive with shields

12.16pm: The same unidentified girl calls 911 and says there are ‘8-9 students alive’ in classroom 112

12.19pm: A different child from classroom 111 calls. She hangs up when another student tells her to in order to be quiet

12.21pm: Gunman fires again

12.26pm: One of the girls who previously called 911 calls back again. She says the shooter has just ‘shot at the door’

12.43pm: The girl on that girl is still on the line. She says 'please send the police now'

12.50pm: Police finally breach the door using keys from the janitor and kill gunman

Q: Was the time BORTAC arrived to finally taking the goblin out due their being told to hold back or simply the time needed to prep? Other?
