I forget the sources, but read what I just posted, it will blow your mind. Specific to keys:
Arredondo told the Tribune that from the hallway of the school he used his cell phone to call for tactical gear, a sniper and keys to get inside the classroom. He said he held back from the door for 40 minutes to avoid provoking gunfire and tried dozens of keys brought to him, but that, one-by-one, they failed to work.
“Each time I tried a key I was just praying,” he told the Tribune.

The windows:
Remember Waco, when those ATF agents we saw in the video, they went through the window on the second floor after climbing onto the low roof? Everyone of them were shot up. I take it that there were more crazies in Waco shooting at them, but I'm guessing they would have the same result if they tried the windows in the classroom. I don't think the crazy (single) in this one would just yell at them, "hey, that's cheating, you can't come through the windows". He'd light them up as well.
The chief:
I think old chief was way over his head for the job, not even this massacre event. He was chosen/appointed through affirmative action. Who thought little sleepy Uvalde was going to erupt into hell that day?
Riots are like sports, it's better to watch it on TV at home.

I’m curious what his LE career actually consisted of and how much experience he really has. Case in point, I worked for a large universities’ police department for a brief time. Our major had transferred in from a campus police department in CA where she was some ranking officer.
In NC if you come in from a different state they will look at your credentials and see what you need in NC BLET (Basic Law Enforcement Training) to become NC certified. (It was a long time ago that I went to BLET, and things may be different now.) Usually this consisted of just the NC law classes. This “major” did not receive credit for any of her supposed LE credentials or time, and had to take the entire BLET class.
One of the detectives and I looked up the CA university she worked at and found out they were not an actual police department or sworn LEO. Not even sure they carried weapons. The only enforcement actions they were allowed to perform was write a campus fine ticket for bicycle infractions. Everything else they had to call local LEO to handle.
She eventually went on to another university PD as the assistant chief. This was with a total of about 2.5-3 years sworn LEO working solely at a desk. I don’t think she ever made an arrest in her career. I know she didn’t in the two years I worked with her.
Could the Texas chief have been on a similar career path with no actual experience, yet promoted to a position of authority?
I left that department as soon as I had my current job lined up.

I thought the feds in waco came under fire from the floor below them as they came inside, not the room they were breaching, but I could be wrong. Either way, it doesn’t even look like the thought of windows in the shooting classrooms were even considered even though they were being utilized to get people out of other classrooms.

The Waco guys didn't get shot via the windows, but bullets coming up through the roof they were standing on I recall. Yes, that would be very dangerous but we also know shields had arrived and they didn't deploy them for a while and claim they were told to hold back. Now he's claiming he never gave such an order.
I do know the LEOs I know have made it clear the SOP of their PDs is regardless of the danger or likelihood you may die trying, you are expected to go in during an active shooter event and either die a legit hero or win the day. My understanding is that's pretty much the SOP for most PDs post Columbine, and someone posted an SOP that was very clear what is expected of you in such an event.
Also seems true for the LEOs commenting in this thread. Various window pics:
