I was called an idiot…ATF gun registry a reality.

Here it is. I’m apparently not the only one that heard the rumors (some of which an actual ATF agent let slip to a family member), but the ATF is indeed digitizing in the same searchable manner as I stated a few months back. The change in 4473 served no purpose but to make it easier to do so. Here’s MrGunsandGear breaking it down:

With today's technology it's pretty obvious that the government knows EVERYTHING you have.

If Home Depot knows about the 3/4" conduit I bought because they can connect my Debit Card with my email I am sure the government knows about the magazines I ordered online.

Edward Snowden already let us know about it.

Not to mention that even if ordered to destroy their registry they won't, any more than the RCMP did up north when so ordered.

I'm not sure there IS any way to bring this lawless rogue agency to heel short of dissolving it.

The last two 4473 forms I filled out were both digital, one on a computer and the other on some sort of tablet.

So I really don’t think the ATF compacting all your info to one page is going to make that much of a difference.

As Alex stated, Home Depot sends me a email about my purchase before I can get from the register to the door.

That was my biggest disappointment with President Trump. I thought he might reign in the ATF buffoonery, at least a little bit.

As I understood, this was their way to streamline the paper copies some of us dinosaurs use.

The Government does what ever they want. They just suppress lie and deny. Then if it makes it to a legal proceeding the sling words around like intent, and have lawyers and judges jerk each other off. All the while it just becomes the norm. We The People just eventually acclimate.

    So here is some crow.

    Same problems exist.

The vast majority if 4473s are still in the wild.

The fact that they are digitizing / aka "going paperless" with the 4473s in their possession changes nothing. It's more efficient than having them alphabetically organized but does nothing to generate "completeness." That is the BIG, BIG PART you continue to understand. They have nothing like a master database.

On the last thread I gave you the number of firearm transactions compared to the number of 4473s they had on file. Go re read it, then you can figure out you are still an idiot.

Gun traces still happen in EXACTLY the same way, the only difference is sometimes (and usually related to a 4473 20 years old or more) they actually have the 4473 in question because the FFL wrapped it up.

So the sky still isn't falling, you want this to be that bit it is still this. Stop believing the crap you see on tv.

Also Youtube videos are an opinion, not a source.

It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.

    Chuck, we miss ya man.

It’s illegal. Sources are cited on it. I never mentioned how traces are done. But they can nor type your meme and see the information on any 4473 you’ve filled out.

I’m not concerned with my name coming back on a trace. I have other concerns as many others do. We don’t need to ignore it the ATF doing things they shouldn’t.
