    French military selects Benelli SuperNova

Looks like there's still a place for pump guns:

"Beretta Defense recently announced that the whole Armed Forces of France have adopted the Benelli Supernova 12 guage shotgun in several configurations, making the Supernova the standard issue shotgun of the French military. Benelli will have a seven-year contract to produce the Supernova shotguns, with a contracted cost of €4,500,000. The convertible Benelli M3 (capable of both pump-action and semi-auto) shotgun is already in use in special French Army units, but the Benelli Supernova had to go through its own testing process, which was reportedly “severe,” but undisclosed at this time."

Is there anything more boring than a French shotgun adoption in 2022?

Somebody needs to roll a Franchi SPAS 12 or a USAS 12.

Surprising that a pump shotgun has been adopted by a modern military at all.

Having fought alongside the French, I feel this joke is way played out.

Slater, I suspect the logic of the pump gun is to cycle a larger range of cartridges. Perhaps they have something unusual in mind, hence the long chamber. Also, US SOF uses very compact pump guns for breaching. I’m not really a shotgun guy, so I don’t know if the same things can be achieved with an auto.

Does their military contract model have a white flag to attach to the bayonet lug?

Breaching rounds are not supposed to cycle a semiauto.

The Benelli SNT has long been considered one of the toughest pumps out there in Heavy Metal, from what I've gathered. I personally really like mine. It's my "beater" gauge for around the house, but the quality is well beyond my 870 and Mossberg experience. I'd say on par with a Glock. It's not "pretty" or "super slick", but it's very well made, there are no QA/QC blunders like you see so often with the other pumps out there, it's just a really squared away gauge with great features (chrome lined bore, mag disconnect, C-stock available, etc.)

What's really cool is that France can find a really good firearm, test it, and purchase it.
