    KAC bolt carrier

Picked up a KAC sr15 and was inspecting the bcg and noticed the gas key was staked uneven can that cause issues or because it to be less effective staking?

you should be fine as long as staking displaces the material into the fastener head to prevent rotation.

front screw staking looks fine, rear-can't easily say from the picture. Some good examples with pictures of Colt, BCM, and LMT: https://ar15armory.com/forums/topic/...-staking-pics/

It wasn’t my intention to come off as rude, but the point was that you are worrying about something that shouldn’t even matter… it is literally just a cosmetic issue and nothing more. That BCG will easily outlast the barrel and the barrel will probably easily outlast the amount of rounds you ever even put through the weapon unless you are shooting thousands of rounds a month and do so for 2 or 3 years.

Shoot the weapon. Maintain the weapon. Keep an eye on anything you think might be an issue. Take some classes. Have some fun.

    It’s fine.

Send it to sotar for an inspection. He does a little reverse torque check deal to see if they back out.

KAC has pretty good customer service, so contact them and see if they’ll do anything about it. The staking doesn’t look that bad to me, maybe a touch on the lighter side when compared to others.

We're gonna need to see pics of grip screws before we can make a final determination.
It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.

    Grip screws are life.

That being said, the staking looks ok. Wouldn't worry about it. But would it irritate me that they did a sloppy job on a rifle that goes for a premium price? Yes. But thats just me.

Why do you say the job is sloppy?
