Charging Trump “will very likely spark civil unrest, and maybe even civil war,”

    https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/jus...ppen-rcna33042

A person familiar with the matter told NBC News there have been conversations inside the Justice Department about the far-reaching implications of pursuing a case against Trump, should it come to that. So far, no public evidence has surfaced that the former president has become a criminal target.

Filing criminal charges against Trump in connection with his efforts to overturn the election “will very likely spark civil unrest, and maybe even civil war,” said Barbara McQuade, an NBC legal analyst and a former U.S. attorney.

But, she said, “I think not charging is even worse, because not charging means you failed to hold someone criminally accountable who tried to subvert our democracy.”

Either way, “It’s a momentous and unprecedented decision — not as easy as some folks might imagine it to be,” said Chuck Rosenberg, an NBC News legal analyst who is a former federal prosecutor and former head of the Drug Enforcement Administration.

The contours of a possible criminal case against Trump have been clear to legal experts for some time. A federal judge said in a ruling in a civil case in March that Trump “more likely than not” committed federal crimes in seeking to obstruct the congressional count of the Electoral College ballots on Jan. 6, 2021, citing two statutes: obstruction of an official proceeding, and conspiracy to defraud the United States.

It won't be Trump per se, I don't think he has that kind of pull on people. IMO, it will come off as the next step in an utter corruption of the justice system, maybe a shark jumping moment. A "Soviet show trial". At that point people will figure, if it can happen to him, it can happen to any of us.

It’s going to happen eventually. The sooner we get it over with the sooner people will pull their heads out of their asses and realize how good we really have it.

You say that thread title like you think it's a bug... to Dems it's a perfect manufactured pretext for sweeping the last vestiges of the Old Republic away and proclaiming a new American Empire under Pedophilus the First and his array of Grima Wormtongues.

They WANT open hostilities, are just waiting for something they can twist into a Ft Sumter or Archduke in Sarajevo pretext to lace up their jackboots and goose-step into Total War.

“They” have to know they will be crushed. They will lose badly if they push until something pops off.

My guess is they think they can either get it over with before resistance can organize, or they think they can get the middle third-or-so to either side with their third-or-less against our third-or-so or sit it out. The arrogance of these people defies description, they think you can program people to do what you want them to just by appropriate positive or negative stimulus like Pavlovian Conditioning.

I can't fathom their thought pattern, but when the shooting starts it will be a long time, maybe decades before it ends.
Stealing a national election must be ok though !

‘They’ have been saying that Trump is going to be indicted and goosewalked out of Trump Tower for the past 6 years…. And…. And…

Notice that they don’t list charges? What exactly did he do, like USC blah, blah, blah. The problem for them is that if they get specific, it won’t be very serious, and then you are going to try him on some mickey-mouse BS, or some ‘conspiracy’ charge? Go after him for a big one- and the problem is that he clearly isn’t guilty because they have taken 18 months to get to charging him.

It’s all BS trying to rile people up. Don’t charge him and the idiots will protest and riot this summer. Indict him and the right will fill the streets- and when you call up the National Guard and 1/2 don’t show up, and the other half don’t want anything to do with it?

Fine, try him in West Virginia and have the pretty-mouth DOJ lawyer from DC try to get a conviction.
The Second Amendment ACKNOWLEDGES our right to own and bear arms that are in common use that can be used for lawful purposes. The arms can be restricted ONLY if subject to historical analogue from the founding era or is dangerous (unsafe) AND unusual.

    It's that simple.

They can't do it...there is WAY too much proof of Trump saying to peacefully protest, Antifa changing clothes into maga outfits, Epps, Capitol police opening doors for protestors, etc. This committee is a ruse to attempt to keep him from 2024. They are TERRIFIED of him running / winning.

Can’t? If there is anything I’ve learned over the last few years is that the ComDems can do anything they want and get away with it. But if your cellphone happened to ping in the capital on 01/06/21 then you get your front door kicked in and you get to sit in jail for 2 years on a “possible” misdemeanor charge.
