Philly sees a sharp rise in homicides ruled justified. Gun grabbers are worried.

As more people get guns and carry permits, Philly sees a sharp rise in homicides ruled justified.

More people in Philadelphia are legally arming themselves and shooting their armed attackers amid a violent crime spike.

Justified homicides jumped 67% from 2020 to 2021 ― from 12 to 20 according to the Philadelphia Police Department. An additional six have been ruled justified by the department but are awaiting the District Attorney’s Office to sign off. In 2019, there were 10 justified killings, six in 2018 and eight in 2017, the department said.

So far in 2022, victims have shot at least eight armed assailants to death, with more than seven months remaining in the year.

The trend worries some analysts and gun-control advocates

I’d say there’s probably a whole lot more justified homicides that are currently considered “unsolved”. A good citizen smokes a bad guy and, instead of waiting to see if he gets arrested for defending his life, he just walks off and keeps his mouth shut.

That article regurgitated the usual liberal crap about "the gun being more likely to be misused, accidental shootings or for suicides" and that should make it not worth the effort (and "danger" ) of owning a weapon for self defense.

I also bet the facts pained the writer of that article: these were black legal gun owners who defended themselves. A travesty I tell ya!

Yes, pretty much just that. They believe that people have no right to defend themselves, period. People are to be passive subjects of the state with no regard for their own life, even willing to lay down their lives to a criminal in order to reject self-determination in favor of collectivism. They want the state, and only the state, to have the legal authority to decide who lives and dies.

    This is the correct answer.

Keep it up Philly. If the Eagles can beat the Patriots in the super bowl, you can take your city back.

I doubt the average law abiding citizen is wired in such a manner to do this. No worries on my end but then you end up with a disproportionate number of unsolved murders which feeds the narrative.

That seems to be their basic concern and demonstrates the basic mental disorder at work.

The issue is they more strongly identify with the criminal, thus "that could happen to me" than they do the responsible person who is generally victimized by criminals, which they can't identify with as strongly.

It's also the basis of why they think NOBODY can responsibly own a gun, they know if THEY had a gun and got into a dispute over a parking lot or something trivial they lack the basic self control to NOT shoot somebody and they assume everyone else is just as irresponsible as they are.

I've genuinely have had people who tried to get me to admit that if "I got angry enough I'd shoot somebody" and the whole time I'm laughing to myself thinking "well I haven't shot you yet." That level of personal responsibility is completely alien to them and they are more inclined to believe in aliens from another planet than people who can own guns responsibly.
It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.

    Chuck, we miss ya man.

Just throwing it out there, but wouldn't it be a GOOD thing if justifiable self defense shootings outnumbered criminal shootings. I mean the worst conclusion you could draw from that is that crime victims are winning. DaFuq is the downside?
