So watched ep 1 of season 4 last night, pretty much just more of the same from 2 and 3 but with even lazier writing. Jumping back and forth from future to past tense, from this reality to that reality isn't clever, it's just convoluted.

And black shoes or white shoes? Are we really spoon feeding the irony to everyone?

But hey looks like we are getting 1920s Gangster World so that will be another opportunity for the same kind of pointless gun battles between visitors and hosts that we've now seen 1,000 times.

The funny part is last night I accidentally restarted S1E1 and was 10 minutes into it before I realized my mistake. But during those 10 minutes I thought, ya know they really surprised me...they went back to the beginning to establish a few things...this might actually be pretty good. It also dramatically offset the quality of writing from Season One and everything AFTER that.

I'm sure everyone thought the part where William wacked the cartels was super awesome.

    West World S4!!!

I went back to watch season 3 for a second time and would rate it a B+ and I’m usually not easily entertained.
It works a lot better watched as a marathon and there’s very little story continuation from season 2 that you couldn’t watch it on its own.

I'm like 2 episodes into Season 4 and it may be the worst Season yet?

Scratch that. I was only on season 3 episode 2.

Episode 3 of Season 3 is getting better.

Watching William degrade further in s3 was kind of funny. The scene where he, Delos and the other versions of William are sitting in therapy was hilarious. Current William is talking and Delos says something like “Let the others talk, it’s not all about you, William.” was gold.

That was the only good part about S3.

So almost through the end of the season (series?). One episode left.

I'm not hating it, I look forward to the new episodes and whatever comes next. Even if it's not quite as captivating as season 1.

The scope and production values are still very good, it's a reasonable story thread, and all the actors are doing a great job with their characters. (Even the Charlotte Hale lady who I said I did not like.)

There are just not many series like this anymore (captivating, immersive), certainly not on broadcast tv. Maybe 1 out of 100.

I'm caught up on WW and I'd give it same grade as S3. It's ok, not great, not terrible. Seems they are trying to be cryptic for the sake of being cryptic, vs really adding to the story. That gets old at times. Lot of the action and gun handling also just seems less realistic and believable than prior seasons. The writing and dialogue just seems really lazy, like escaping by air ducts yet again. That's the go to for every damn movie and show with lazy a$$ writers. You couldn't do that in a modern secure type building, but future buildings seem to be full of large air duct passageways to remove the grill and crawl your way to freedom...There was an interesting twist in E4 of major character and time line I didn't see coming, that gave the season some boost in the plot and such. I stick it out as I'm invested in the show enough to do so, what why S1 was one of all time great SF shows, and all that followed meh, I don't know. Lose their writing team or something?

Probably something similar to what happened with GoT...When they had original source material developed by an actually gifted writer to work from, the episodes were great. Once they exhausted that and went out on their own, they had nothing to hide behind and the show quality suffered.

The core concepts behind the first season are the work of Michael Chrichton, after all.

Just finished 4.7. I actually see the plot line coming to a coherent focus.

    Many seemingly random things converging.

Not exactly what I expected, but also somewhat creative. Still also entertaining / intriguing enough to keep me engaged.

I can't name any other current Sci-Fi series that I would say is better.

"Raised by wolves" was quite good, I hope it still continues. "The expanse" was a little bit uneven but I still liked it.

"Altered carbon" was another interesting one that I wish they'd continue.

I do think it gets hard for a series to to make it beyond 3 years without getting repetitive, tiresome, loss of creativity, etc.
