    Knight's Armament Accuracy Issue

I'm wondering if I can get some expert guidance. I own a KAC SR-15 mod 2.
I think I've owned it since around 2015. I may have around 4000 rounds through it.
The rifle has been extremely reliable and has never failed me.
The issue I am having is that it exhibits wildly erratic groups with 55gr projectiles such as M193 loadings. Groups can be 6” + and unpredictable.

Shooting 62-77gr projectiles it groups around 1.5” – 2” at 100m which I find quite acceptable.

I’m not sure what’s going on. Does anyone have any thoughts on why this may be?

It groups bad with ammo that is known to group bad. Try different ammo to see if the results are similar. Also shoot ammo in a different rifle and compare.

Your rifle shoots good ammo well, and bad ammo poorly.

What’s the issue with it? It’s performing exactly as pretty much every rifle that exists.

Some might do better than this with crappy ammo, but they should not be expected to.

    On the flip side…….

    What a piece of shit!!

I’ll take it off your hands for $1000 so you can buy a rifle that will shoot everyone equally adequately.

I guess I was wondering why the 55gr shoots so bizarre. It's really a radical difference.

Rifles don't have tongues, so the only way for them to tell you that they don't like what you're feeding them is by delivering poor groups.

I've had really good luck with Norma's 55 grain TAC-223 ammo. It's does less than 2 MOA in every AR I've tested with it, and it's only $0.46/round from multiple sources right now.

I've used the last of what I had, but I've also had good luck with PMC X-TAC, but don't recall if it was 55 grain or 62 grain.

How does it do with your carefully assembled handloads?

Which 55 gr ammo/bullet. Some can be horrible. You could try a 55 gr AMAX or VMAX and I bet you get great groups.

Hornady 55 gr FMJs are the only bullets I've found in that weight of ball bullet that can achieve sorta decent groups.

Good question. I never noticed a problem before two years ago. I went to zero an optic and I just couldn't get it zeroed. Impacts all over the place.
I switched to a higher end 62 grain projectile and its been much better.

Can you detail more of the setup you use to group with?
