To put this back at a rational discussion, I assume you are implying the Founders intent for no standing army and not to be entangled in foreign wars? Which lasted how long before we put boots on the ground in Tripoli, and put the Monroe doctrine into effect? Dictate the peace or have the peace dictated to you.

I have to disagree with those saying NATO should have disbanded after the fall of the Soviet Union, it's pretty obvious Russia didn't change just got weaker for a while. Seems to me the totalitarian expansionist BS we are witnessing right now is the exact kind of event NATO was formed to be a counterbalance to. As far as NATO expansion being a provocation to Putin get real, NATO was never going to start a war with Russia all that letting the Baltic States into NATO did was protect them from Russian invasion which did piss off Putin as obliviously that was on his wish list.
