it sucks that most of the elite killers got away to South America etc. They ran first and got away.

The shit the Japanese are taught in school are blame the Germans on WWII, and vice versa. I saw interviews to Japanese kids that had no clue about the truth about WWII. Its just shocking.

We certainly never had history lessons on Unit 731 or Operation Paper Clip. I wonder why?

Hopefully the Nazi in question has enough of his memory left to realize he's not leaving prison alive.

More importantly "we" were complicit. We got a "conditional" unconditional surrender which left the emperor in place as a symbolic leader and we participated in the fiction that he was in no way connected to war crimes and had no knowledge of any done in his name. This is of course absurd as he knew everything so we couldn't convict a lot of people without going up a ladder that ended with him.

Even worse when it came to atrocities at the most severe level like Unit 731, we wanted their data, so we gave complete immunity to Shiro Ishi and everyone else involved as a trade. Keep in mind these people engaged in live dissection of children so they could track the progress of their bio weapons. It's one of the most shameful things the US ever did and it goes at least as high as MacArthur.

There should be no statute of limitations on this shit. My only concern is, do we actually have a guy who did something more than guard the gate? Because we let a LOT of people go in Germany, during the 40s who did much more than just guard the gate. Hell we employed some of them. But 5 years is light compared to what happened to those people in those camps so if he did more than guard the gate, he had it coming.

Also somebody mentioned Mengele, sadly he lived to the age of 67, pretty much in the open with family visiting and died of natural causes.
I wonder why the Israelis at least didn't show up and shoot in in the face. No doubt another complicated story, deal made, etc that allowed another monster to live a happy life, letting future monsters know, they have excellent chance of paying no price for it.

Interesting, I'd heard the Japanese blamed us and teach that we were the aggressors and they were just minding their own biz when we dropped nukes and other nonsense. I mean sure, one can blame the Germans for WWII, which has nadda to do with the fact they were already attacking their neighbors and then us. That didn't work out so well for them.

Five years in prison for a 101yr nazi ? Nah, gas/hang/shoot all his relatives before his eyes, then gas him ! He should feel the same pain as those he helped murder.

I’ll ask my oldest if she’s learned about Abu Ghraib in school yet.

That's the first half. The second half is they were protected by governments of South America who were more than sympathetic to their beliefs. The fact that the Vatican was complicit in Odessa tells people a lot of the problem.

Eichmann lived sort of off the grid so people believed he was safe, Mengele was living open so he was better protected.
It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.
