KY -domestic violence call goes south 7 cops, 1 EMA shot. 2 police and 1 K-9 KIA.

    https://www.kktv.com/2022/07/01/mult...outputType=amp

    From the article:

A gunman killed two law enforcement officers and injured several others in Kentucky during a shootout that lasted for hours, officials said.

Officials identified the shooter as Lance Storz, 49, from Allen. He was taken into custody, and his bond was set at $10 million in a court appearance Friday.

An arrest citation from Kentucky State Police said eight people were shot in the attack Thursday night. Floyd County Sheriff John Hunt said Friday it appeared the shooter was waiting for law enforcement and opened fire on them when they arrived.

“This guy seemed to (have a) plan, and he executed that plan almost to precision,” he said.

Hopefully "court-issued warrant in a domestic violence situation" translates to "Red Flag".

Makes you wonder, since the wife and child were in a safe location when it all went down. Maybe he was the last Jan 6 insurgent.

I know the users on this site would never think of countering a red flag weapons confiscation with violence.

Sounds more like a whack job who had reached the end of his rope and wanted to bang it out with a bunch of cops.

I was far too casual. No matter the reason for the confrontation, Mark is 100% correct. It offends me that he is still stealing our oxygen. Both those officers deserved to die in their beds surrounded by loving family. Hell, I would much rather the K9 lived than the suspect.

What's interesting from that as whether, like so many guns laws, the result will be the opposite of the intended effects, and the results of such laws an increase in violence.

Why is he still alive? The Buffalo shooter should've been killed on the spot, this guy probably too.

That's how it reads to me.

Because that is how it shook out. Last thing we need is a cop on camera executing someone who has clearly surrendered or been incapacitated no matter how much they might deserve it. Responding LEOs typically don't have all the info of what actually put events in motion, that is why judges decide on sentencing. And finally, what if a cop drops a hammer on someone and then comes to find out they were somehow innocent or mistaken address or whatever...then that guy has to live with that shit the rest of his life.

Now obviously if you are defending yourself or others, it's gonna be a good shoot, but as much as we might want the police to "take out the garbage" from time to time, we really don't want that to become some kind of default template.

He apparently tripped on his way to the cruiser though (if you've seen the jail booking photo).
