All those gov agencies don't need the ammo.
They want to keep it out of the hands of We The People.

Hey guess what, alphabet agencies of the government buy pallets of ammo from time to time. I recall they did the same thing under Zero.
Gettin' down innagrass.

The last time everyone freaked out about some agency buying a bunch of ammo it was just the ceiling amount for a five year long IDIQ contract. Basically they could place orders as they went, for five years, up to the ceiling amount. I didn’t see the contract number for this buy but if the middle digit is a D then that’s what’s going on.

DOE, I would've expected under NNSA specifically but not so much "in general." In large part, my prior comment was tongue in cheek... but it sure does seem to me that aside from site/agency-specific needs we could just consolidate site-security for all civil Federal offices/agencies into FPS.

They have more than just a SWAT team. They might be more geared up than DOE and it is because things like shuttle launches would have been one of the most desirable targets for terrorist groups around the world. The security needs of NASA are actually pretty staggering.

This thread (and the many like it) should highlight just how inefficient it is for all these agencies to have their own enforcement/security entities. Every one needs a managment chain, support personnel, legal team, etc.
Even if they buy weapons and ammunition under a single IDIQ contract, they each have to manage the purchase, storage, and disposal.
Its incredibly wasteful compared to having all enforcement/security under a single agency.

Ask me how I know that? My friend who owns the Life Extension Foundation was the first to start selling DHEA. Instead of sending him a C&D per normal, they showed up with a SWAT style team, took all his computers and files and charged him with selling steroids. He was the the first supp company to tell the FDA to F off, and won in court. It cost him millions in 80s $, and had he lost, would have been in prison a long time. They tried 2 more times for other things, he won each time. While I was never a big fan of the FDA, when he told me how they'd come to his office, pointed gun at him and his staff, scared the hell out of them, and intentionally took all their stuff run their biz, I was floored.
While I'm not of the opinion the FDA is just evil, lets say they're more inclined to protect pharma profits then the health of we 'Muricans.
